MY COLOURING STORY
I work with numbers and spreadsheets. At the end of the day, what helps me relax is picking up my colouring book and markers.
But relaxing wasn't always simple. I'd spend too much time choosing colours — asking my boys, “Does yellow go with blue? Does pink go with red?” — or searching online for a colour wheel. When the combination didn't work, I felt frustrated instead of relaxed, and I'd wasted the picture and precious ink.
Many designs also took hours, even days. I wanted something recognisable and real — simple enough to finish in one peaceful sitting.

A BOOK MADE DIFFERENTLY
The colouring book I was searching for.
THE JOURNEY BEHIND EACH PAGE
I began in the gardens of Victoria, Australia.
I visited gardens around Victoria and photographed every flower that caught my eye — some striking at first glance, others so quiet they'd easily go unnoticed. But looking closely, I found the gentler blooms were just as beautiful as the showiest ones.
Using these photographs as reference, I worked with AI tools to create colouring pages that stayed true to the real flowers, refining each one through countless small adjustments until it felt right.
The result delighted me: a collection that's easy to colour, grounded in real flowers, and genuinely satisfying to complete.

TEST-COLOURED BY ME
Every flower had to earn its place.
I personally test-coloured every image considered for this book. My wall of colour became my little processing factory—where I compared the designs, refined anything that didn't feel right and selected only the most enjoyable images to colour.
The ticks, crosses and notes helped me choose the strongest pages, so every image included in the book has been tried by a real colourist first: me.
